US Virgin Islands

Airport & Island Transfers

St. John is located only a few miles from the easternmost point of St. Thomas. There is no airport on the island so groups must first fly into the Cyril E. King airport in St. Thomas. Upon arrival, the land transfer takes groups from the airport via air-conditioned taxi vans to Red Hook on the east end of St. Thomas. From here, ferries take groups on a 20 minute boat ride to St. John. Arrangements are usually made for the groups to disembark directly at the hotel's dock. Otherwise, groups are taken to the main town of Cruz Bay and transferred by open-air safari buses to their intended destination.

The prices listed opposite are per person based on a four person minimum using taxi vans and private ferries from Red Hook. These prices include our meet and greet service, gratuities and porter fees for two bags per person. Additional bags are an additional fee each.

The inter-island private boat prices listed are from 6:00am to 7:00pm. Boat service increases by 20% from 7:00pm to 12:00am and 30% from 12:00am to 6:00am.

For groups involving more than 24 people arriving at one time, we request that you use our separate baggage handling vehicles for all luggage transfers. This is a proven method for problem-free transfers found in dealing with larger groups.

For water transfers for groups over 24 passengers arriving simultaneously, you will need to charter public ferries or luxury private yachts. The additional cost for luggage handling is $2.00 per bag. There are three recommended locations for water transfers from St. Thomas: Crown Bay, Charlotte Amalie waterfront and Red Hook. All three locations are less than an hours ride to St. John. For public ferry costs, please consult the SPECIAL RATES & SERVICES section. Please call for private yacht costs.

Cruise Ship Arrivals

Several different cruise lines call very early in the morning on St. John prior to coming in to St. Thomas and docking for the day. Since there are no docks large enough to accommodate a cruise ship on St. John, all passengers are ferried ashore to Cruz Bay, the main town of the island. Later in the day, the cruise lines arrange for ferries to transport passengers to St. Thomas to rejoin the ship.

If you have a group on this itinerary wishing to disembark in St. John, CTS staff members will be standing by as they land in Cruz Bay. Many different sightseeing or special events are easily organized.
